I found the book very useful and easy to read. There was just enough technical information in the text to be informative without being overwhelming. I did order the Kindle edition of the book and unfortunately many of the example photos were missing (some were included, but not all). So several of the examples in the book would refer to a picture that was missing. These missing picture are what lead me to rate the book a 4 star instead of 5.

This is a good resource to keep handy. It’s well written, easy to understand. I’ve enjoyed photography for many years, and think even experienced photographers would do well to follow these common sense tips that really make a difference.

The reasons why you should buy this book, October 29, 2011

    1. the book is relatively short.
    2. The book describes in human terms the terminology so you slowly can get into the scene
    3. While reading the book even if you don’t own a DSLR camera, you can still learn what you like in a camera in order to better buy a camera in the future.
    4. The book explains to you how to buy a camera and the lens to match

So that about 4 things I really liked about this book :), I must say that since I started reading the book I begin discovering the mistakes I make while taking a photo, and as it appears those were critical to the results of my camera.
The book was very helpful also in teaching me new techniques and I feel that now I can take a decent picture at any given scenario, and in some scenarios an awesome photo.

The book doesn’t cover photography from A to Z but it certainly cover it from A to F, the rest is more advanced books or just plain old self tutoring.

If your interested in getting into photography – I highly recommend this book.
