I’ve recently purchased a Sony NEX-5 and have been testing it out. So far there is something about the image quality when tone mapped just doesn’t quite feel right. It could be a lack of range in each exposure so that’s why I shot 5 exposures for this image. That only helped to reduce noise. Next time I’ll drop the under exposure a full 3 stops to see if that helps any. I’ll update once I figure it all out. The main reason I bought the Sony NEX-5 was so I can have a portable camera with decent image quality when I go to Thailand next month. If I don’t get the HDR the way I like, I might end up getting a Canon Rebel.

There are few things better than photography to show off the amazing beauty found throughout the world and in your own life. Once you are able to develop the proper technique to snap the photo, you could even turn it into an amazing career. Here you’ll find some incredible tips to give you those techniques for taking the best photographs you can.

Night photography sheds a whole new light on the subject. Make sure that additional lighting is available when natural lighting is insufficient. Make sure you use the flash feature and adjust your camera’s shutter speed setting to shoot better photos at night.

Try different settings on the camera such as shutter speed or what works the best for you. Depending how fast or slow you set your shutter speed, you can create a variety of effects ranging from crisply focused actions shots to softly blurred images. Lighting quick shutter speeds are great for sports shots with lots of action, while slow shutter speeds are nice for landscapes without a lot of movement.

A crucial tip when photographing is you need to be sure you hold the camera properly. This is important because without proper holding procedures, you are not getting the most stable image possible. Keep the arms close to the side of your body and support the lens of the camera with the hand that is less dominate.

Experiment with your camera’s various features, along with angles and colors. Your subject does not have to be original in order for your photo to be unique. A good photographer is able to take a dull object and turn it into something interesting to look at, due to the skills and talent that the photographer possesses. Play around to gain experience and build a style of your own.

Share your very best and most interesting shots. Don’t store every picture you take, rather hang onto those you like the best.

Confine yourself within certain limits, to breed creativity. For example, pick a day to shoot only one kind of conceptual image, such as “sweet.” You can improve your technique by taking many pictures from the same location. Working withing these limitations will make your shots more creative.

Purchase a basic tripod for a better photograph. It will help you steady your photos without struggling with camera placement. An inexpensive tripod can really help you to take a steady shot, that will come out crisp and clear. Using a quality tripod will help you achieve better, more professional results with your photos.

Try to avoid setting your digital camera to the lowest settings in order to fit more photos on the camera because you will sacrifice print quality. The only time to use lower settings is when you know the images will only be displayed on your computer screen.

Be sure to mind the background of your image, because you can actually enhance your subject by doing so. Adding a pretty rock or an interesting leaf, for example, can add eye appeal. The enhanced depth will make the photos more interesting to those viewing them, and viewers will be better able to imagine themselves in the setting.

Don’t fall into the habit of taking all of your photographs with the camera in its standard horizontal position. Shooting your photographs at a vertical angle can really add a unique prospective to your pictures. Zoom out if you want to shoot full-body pictures of people, or zoom in if you are photographing a smaller, more detailed subject.

Now that you’ve got these great suggestions, you can impress family and friends with your new photo skills. If you keep practicing, you might even be able earn some money with your photographs.
